Description

Wasatch was a Salt Lake City based refining & marketing company that had various station brands including Golden Eagle, Wasatch and “Chief” brands named for the individual states where they marketed (Idaho Chief, Montana Chief, Oregon Chief and Washington Chief). It was founded in 1932 at Woods Cross, UT by William Yeates, William McIntryre and investor Henry Moyle. The company built the Idaho Refining plant in Pocatello in 1938 and the Inland Empire Refineries plant in Spokane before World War II. In August 1947 Phillips purchased Wasatch Oil, and operated it as a separate subsidiary into the mid 1950s when the stations were rebranded Phillips 66.
